The idea behind selection is that the traits of teens affect the people they choose. To put it another way, people choose friends who are like them in some way, like their hobbies, values, or habits. For instance, teens who use drugs or drink are more likely to choose friends who also do these things. Socialization, on the other hand, is the way that teens change each other without meaning to. In other words, friends can change the way each other acts, thinks, and believes over time. Like, if one friend starts drinking or using drugs, their other friends might start to do the same. same.
