After watching the 3 Disney Youtube videos, choose at least one (of a,b,and c) of the
following to discuss briefly, and then answer the last question, d:
a. What messages do these videos send children about heterosexuality?
b. What do children learn about gender roles from watching these videos?
c. In fairy tales, women are often either saintly virgins or evil demons. Why do you think
that these children’s stories present such a dichotomy of young girls?
d. (All answer this one) Those three movies came out from 1989 to 1992. What
changes in depictions of gender and sexuality have you seen in more recent Disney
movies? If you do not watch Disney movies, have you heard discussions about this that
you can share?
